Do you know that...

Jesus is the first person to proclaim the ethic of reciprocity positively:

'So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.' Matthew 7:12

Before Him, it was always:
'Do not to your neighbor what you would take ill from him.' - Pittacus
'Avoid doing what you would blame others for doing.' - Thales
'Do not do to others what would anger you if done to you by others.' - Isocrates
'Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself' - Confucius

We do, and not avoid, as God's children.
